Product Introduction
Triacetin (GTA) CAS 102-76-1
Triacetin (glycerol triacetate, commonly abbreviated GTA) is a colorless, low-volatility acetate ester of glycerol supplied as a clear viscous liquid. It functions as a high-performance plasticizer, solvent/coalescent, humectant and formulation excipient across coatings, polymers, food and pharmaceutical applications. GTA is chemically stable, miscible with many organic solvents, and selected where low odor, low volatility and good compatibility with polar matrices are required.
Applications
Plasticizer for polymers & cellulose esters
Used to improve flexibility, processability and low-temperature performance of PVC, cellulose acetate and specialty polymer formulations.
Solvent / coalescent in coatings & inks
Functions as a slow-evaporating coalescent and solvent to improve film formation and gloss in waterborne and solventborne coatings.
Food & pharmaceutical excipient (humectant / solvent)
Employed as a GRAS-classified humectant, carrier and solvent in selected food, flavor and pharmaceutical formulations (grade and regulatory compliance required).
Flavors, fragrances & carrier for active compounds
Used as a carrier for lipophilic flavors and fragrances and to control volatility and release profiles.
Specialty applications — fuel additives, plastic additives
Used in small volumes as a stabilizer/plasticizer in specialty formulations and certain fuel or lubricant additive systems where biodegradability and low volatility are desirable.
